What is Gospel Philharmonic Experience?

A production that brings together on stage a philharmonic orchestra of 40 to 90 musicians, the professional gospel choir Gospel Experience (13 singers), a band (piano, Hammond B3 organ, bass, drums) and a large amateur choir of 120 voices, conducted by Pascal Horecka. Up to 200 artists on stage.

Who created the project?

Pascal Horecka, conductor, arranger and artistic director, trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon. In 2017, the Auditorium de Lyon and the Orchestre National de Lyon invited him to imagine the project. His website: pascal-horecka.com.

When and where was it created?

In April 2018, at the Auditorium de Lyon, with the Orchestre National de Lyon.

Where has Gospel Philharmonic Experience performed?

Among others: the Auditorium de Lyon (premiere in 2018, New Year concerts 2022-2023), Jazz à Vienne (6 July 2023, with Kim Burrell and the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Lyon), the Fès Festival of World Sacred Music (1 June 2024), the Sacrée Musique festival in Marseille (2024), with the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra (New Year 2024-2025), Cochin – Port-Royal Hospital and Marseille’s Vieux-Port (December 2025).

Which concert formats are available?

Two formats: symphonic (philharmonic orchestra, Gospel Experience choir, band and large choir, up to 200 artists) and chamber (the Gospel Experience choir and its band, or a smaller symphonic line-up) for churches, festivals and private events.

What is the difference between Gospel Experience and Gospel Philharmonic Experience?

Gospel Experience is the 13-singer professional choir at the vocal heart of the project; it also performs on its own. Gospel Philharmonic Experience is the full project with orchestra and large choir. The Gospel Experience Institute is the training branch, in Lyon.

Where is the project based?

Born in Lyon, the project has run summer workshops in Drôme-Ardèche since 2020 and is now settling in the Ardèche all year round, with new sessions in the autumn and spring school holidays. Its postal address is in Saint-Étienne-de-Valoux (Ardèche, France).

How can I join the large choir?

Recruitment is by individual audition, with no music-reading required: a good ear and passion are enough. Places are set aside for people far removed from the concert hall. Write to us via the Contact page.

How can I support the project?
